The history of the Gault family and the evolution of the company are now available at the company’s 150th Anniversary website www.gault150.com. The site provides a unique window into the history of Fairfield County. In fact, the family's extensive Archive, documents in extraordinary detail the life, work and service of five generations of the Gault family to greater Westport from 1863 to the present.
According to Sue Gold, executive
director of the Westport Historical Society, during this 150-year span, family
members have been involved in the community in various roles at all stages of
their lives: as young children, students and parents; as neighbors, farmers,
business owners and land owners; as early adopters of new technology; as
volunteers, and -- given the nature of their service enterprise -- as first
responders to many types of emergencies. “The Gault family's
progress, as shown by their Family Archive, provides rare insight into
Westport's progress since 1863,” says Gold, who adds that the Westport Historical
Society plans to showcase this progression in a major Exhibit this summer.
"While Westport has a number of long-term families, the Gault Family
Archive, spanning five generations of Gaults who lived and worked in the
community, faithfully documenting their long family history with photos,
documents and artifacts, is very special. We are very fortunate that the family
is willing to share this collection with the community."
