Gault Energy & Stone President, Sam Gault, Tours NYC's Bank of America Building with Fairfield County Teens

This week, the winner and finalists of Gault Energy & Stone's teen essay contest, "What's Next?: Energizing the Next 150 Years?", joined company President Sam Gault for a private tour of New York City's celebrated Bank of America Building, one of the world's most environmentally responsible high-rise office buildings.

Shelby Cataldo's winning essay focused on the science of imitating plant cells and the process of photosynthesis to create energy. The four finalists' essays focused on the use of carbon nanotubes, hydrogen fuel cells, converting human and animal waste to energy, and harnessing ocean waves to create energy.  In addition to the Bank of America tour with her fellow finalists, the winner received a $1,500 scholarship. The contest was part of Gault Energy & Stone's year-long 150th Anniversary celebration.

What's Next - Energizing The Next 150 Years Essay Competition

Calling all Fairfield County high school students! We're inviting you to enter our online essay competition for a chance to win a $1500 scholarship and more!

For more than five generations, Gault Energy has helped power and warm Fairfield County homes and businesses. Now, we're looking to support our community even more. As part of our 150th anniversary celebration, we want Fairfield County teens to share their visions about energy solutions for the future.

So if you are a Fairfield County high school student, who cares about renewable energy and reducing our carbon footprint, we're inviting you to enter our "What's Next? - Energizing the Next 150 Years" online essay competition.

All you have to do is  research energy solutions for the future, visit the Westport Public Library's "Canary in the Coal Mine: The Plight of the Polar Bear and Planet Earth" exhibit (or view it here), and answer the following questions in 1,000 words or less:
  1. What's next when it comes to energy solutions for the next 150 years?
  2. Why is it important that we focus today on energy solutions for tomorrow?

Essays must be submitted by October 31st, 2013 via the online form and will be judged on creativity, innovation, and the ability to demonstrate knowledge of the subject matter.

And now for the prize…

The grand prize winner will be awarded a $1,500 scholarship as well as a personal tour of New York City's much-celebrated Bank of America Tower, one of the world's most environmentally responsible high-rise office buildings.
